GENESEO, N.Y.—The ���ϴ����� Wind Quintet will feature a new work by Distinguished Service Professor of Music James Walker at its concert Feb. 7 at 3 p.m. in the Doty Recital Hall. The performance is free and open to the public.

“The work that I wrote for them— ‘Moments Past’ — is very challenging and exploits not only the extreme ranges of the instruments, but also the technical aspects of each instrument,” said Walker. “It’s a piece that will show off each of the members in the best possible way.”

The quintet, composed of ���ϴ����� faculty members, will include Glennda Dove Pellito on flute, Megan Kyle on oboe, Ernest Lascell on clarinet, Mary Hunt on horn and Martha Sholl on bassoon.  

“It’s always a pleasure to write a work for the Wind Quintet; they are a marvelous ensemble,” said Walker. “Each brings a different ‘color’ to the ensemble, and when you put five players like these on the stage in Doty, it’s a grand musical experience.”

The program also comprises the work of American composer John Cheetham with “Quintet for Woodwinds,” French composer Darius Milhaud with “Suite for Woodwind Quintet”—s�ܲ��پ��ٱ���� “The Chimney of King René”—and Hungarian composer Ferenc Farkas with “Ancient Dances.” The concert’s music will range across woodwind quintet music history.

���ϴ����� has had a resident wind quintet for at least 35 years, presenting two concerts on campus each year. All students, faculty, staff and general public are cordially invited to attend.
