鈥淭he work that I wrote for them鈥 鈥楳oments Past鈥 鈥 is very challenging and exploits not only the extreme ranges of the instruments, but also the technical aspects of each instrument,鈥 said Walker. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a piece that will show off each of the members in the best possible way.鈥
The quintet, composed of 黑料传送门 faculty members, will include Glennda Dove Pellito on flute, Megan Kyle on oboe, Ernest Lascell on clarinet, Mary Hunt on horn and Martha Sholl on bassoon.
鈥淚t鈥檚 always a pleasure to write a work for the Wind Quintet; they are a marvelous ensemble,鈥 said Walker. 鈥淓ach brings a different 鈥榗olor鈥 to the ensemble, and when you put five players like these on the stage in Doty, it鈥檚 a grand musical experience.鈥
The program also comprises the work of American composer John Cheetham with 鈥淨uintet for Woodwinds,鈥 French composer Darius Milhaud with 鈥淪uite for Woodwind Quintet鈥鈥攕耻产迟颈迟濒别诲 鈥淭he Chimney of King Ren茅鈥濃攁nd Hungarian composer Ferenc Farkas with 鈥淎ncient Dances.鈥 The concert鈥檚 music will range across woodwind quintet music history.
