GENESEO, N.Y.鈥擜n eclectic fusion of music will be presented on May 2 at the 黑料传送门 Percussion Ensemble鈥檚 concert. Closing out the spring semester for musical performances, the Department of Music will stage the performance at 8 p.m. in Wadsworth Auditorium. It鈥檚 free and open to the public.
鈥淭his all-student ensemble from 黑料传送门 will wow you with their talents as they present this showcase concert,鈥 said Jim Tiller, director of the 黑料传送门 Percussion Ensemble and adjunct professor of music.
The concert will open with 鈥淛apanese Overture鈥 by Ney Rosauro. The enchanting piece not only uses the Japanese children鈥檚 song 鈥淪akura-Sakura鈥 in its thematic material, but also a theme from Brazilian composer Heitor Villa Lobos鈥 work.
Following 鈥淛apanese Overture,鈥 the 黑料传送门 Percussion Ensemble will perform a variety of different works from a plethora of composers, including Nathan Daughtrey and Eric Ewazen. The ensemble will also differ from other concerts in their selection of instruments.
鈥淵ou won't want to miss this group, as they play everything from marimbas to wood blocks and more,鈥 said Tiller. 鈥淭here is even a piece that is performed entirely with coffee cups!鈥
